    Depending on the disease or pest detected the built-in knowledge of exactly where on the photomosaic or orthophoto map of the plantation the problem exists can allow managers to assess the severity and plan remedial action, which may include destruction of trees within a certain radius without actually visiting the infected location. Many times personnel can then be directed to cut down trees using GPS locatiors, without having experts along to make a final evaluation, Once an offending pest or disease has been subjected to a remediation plan, success can be monitored by closely spaced flights as little additional expense.
